In recent years many Messianics have begun to examine the works of Kabbalistic sages.  Messianic Jew, Zusha Kalet has written a book called the Kabbalah of Yeshua and established an informative web site, Kabbalah Nation.   Mark Kigler, regular contributor to TJS submitted the following interview with Zusha.  Information on how to purchase Zusha's book follows the article.

Note from Rabbi Andrew Cohen: Mayim Chayim Ministries does not include Messianic Kabbalah as a part of its teachings, however, the role of True Jew School is to provide the reader with information on subjects of interest and value to the Messianic community.  It seems important to encourage dialogue between the various communities of Messianic Jews and dialogue cannot be had if information is censored.

Kabbalah of Yeshua Interview Questions

1. What is the vision of Kabbalah Nation?

Globally: Changing the World, one Adam at a time through the teachings of Kabbalah!

Regionally: Bringing A New Spiritual Revolution to New England!

Locally: Establishing Kabbalah Nation in Boston!

There is a wisdom that we are speaking to those who are mature enough for it. But it is not the wisdom of this world or of this world's leaders, who are in the process of passing away. On the contrary, we are communicating a secret wisdom from God which has been hidden until now but which, before history began, God had decreed would bring us glory! Because it has been given to you to know the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but it has not been given to them.

2. Zusha, what inspired you to write this book? After being in the Messianic Jewish Movement since 1979, I realized there was a need for teaching on Kabbalah because the leaders in the movement do not teach or have the depth of studies to be able to teach on the subject.

  • When did you begin studying Kabbalah?  From my families' lineage I was always around Kabbalistic teaching even as a child. The real in depth studying started in 1998 when I was 38. I started studying the Zohar, Bahir and Sefer Yetzirah

  • Do most Kabbalists believe in Yeshua? Yes and no; the real question is what do they believe. There is a belief in Kabbalah about the soul of the Tzaddik and Yeshua definitely is part of that teaching, but to say that they openly declare Yeshua as their Messiah would be incorrect. On the other hand, most Kabbalists would tell you in a heartbeat that Yeshua was absolutely a Kabbalist.

  • What is the history of Kabbalah? This is where it gets interesting and it depends who you are talking to. If the person is non-Orthodox in their upbringing, they will tend to say that it was written in the 13th century by Moses DeLeon. If the person is Orthodox, they will tell you it was written by Shimon Bar Yochai, a disciple of Rabbi Akiva of the first century as it was delivered by Elijah the Prophet in a cave with his son. From my perspective the Zohar just like the Torah has always existed before time and is the Word made flesh in Yeshua the Messiah.

  • What is the Tree of Life (sefirot) from your view point? The first answer which is the most direct is that it is Yeshua, because he is our Tree of Life that we hold on to and have eternal life through him. The deeper revelation is "us" as we live life and it shows the way to the Father's house, which is us in him -- the Quadinty that was before the world existed.  The Tree of Life is a tool, the way that Yeshua talks about to the Father and the depth and understanding of that relationship.

  • Why are so many people studying Kabbalah today? The reason for the peaked interest in the Kabbalah today is the desire to gain or receive spirituality in their everyday lives that they may not be finding in their organized religion that they participate in on a weekly basis. I need to clarify something here; this Kabbalah that we teach at Kabbalah Nation is wisdom that predates all religion and can be integrated into your religion. It is not an either or, Kabbalah is an "and/both" spirituality!

  • Are you affiliated with the Kabbalah Centre? No, we are not but instead see Kabbalah Nation as distinct and different in this sense since we focus on Yeshua and teach from the Brit Chadasha (Renewed Covenant).  This is what sets us apart from the Kabbalah Centre. Kabbalah Nation has been blessed by the Kabbalah Centre by their teachings and sees them as a part of what God is doing in the Kabbalah movement of this day in which we live.

  • How does Kabbalah Nation differ than Kabbalah Centre? The difference would be the centrality of Yeshua and the writers of the Brit Chadasha.

  • Who is your inspiration? My Rabbi and my inspiration was Rabbi Hezekiah Jacobson o.b.m.who taught me the secrets of Kabbalah, also Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. For he is the ultimate expositor on Kabbalah as it relates to a believer in Messiah Yeshua.

  • Any words of advice for beginning Kabbalists? Buy my book Kabbalah of Yeshua; yes one must have a mishpaah, a teacher who will take them on the right path of Kabbalah because there are so many who are teaching Kabbalah not from the perspective of Yeshua and you will end up with a truncated view of  Kabbalah from a non-Yeshua point of view.

  • Any words of advice for beginning writers? Write! That is the best piece of advice. You can read so many books on how to write and so many books on the book that is in your heart, but the book is not yours until you write it for all to fall in love with like fell in love with the concept in the beginning.

  • Are you planning on writing more books? Yes, the Resurrection of James from the tomb of obscurity to throne of authority; The Zohar of Yeshua, an in depth line by line interpretation and Messiah and the Rebbe, Likutey Moharan of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, an interpretation based on the Brit Chadasha and the sayings of Yeshua!

  • Will you be producing a DVD, CDs, or audio books? Yes, these are in the works, and we will post them to our Kabbalah Nation website as soon as they are available.

  • Where can someone purchase the book? Directly through our website or you can order it at your local Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com or from www.lulu.com.
